If you are the victim, that is an incredibly difficult and personal question. Um, I can’t answer it and no
one really can but you. Um, but I can tell you what I would tell my clients, which is this is something that can be a tool for you to take control back of
what happened to you. It’s can be a tool for you to find accountability and hold the people accountable. And a lot of my
clients find the process long but empowering is what I would say. But it’s not a process for everybody. You know,
it opens a lot of old wounds and it can be very retraumatizing. So what I really tell people is that they have to be honest with themselves and be, you know,
very comfortable talking about their experiences because it can be retraumatizing. But it’s a really personal decision and I can guide, you
know, we can guide our clients, but you know, you can always talk to an attorney and get an idea of what would happen if you pursued a lawsuit. So, I think that
that’s probably the first step is kind of learning more about the process.

Stamford, CT personal injury attorney Nicole Coates talks about what someone should consider before deciding to come forward with suspected abuse.
