So, a motorcycle and this is assuming it’s a motorcycle versus a car. They usually don’t turn out well for the for the motorcyclist. And we handle lots of
motorcycle accident cases and people tend to get terribly hurt in those. And we want to make sure that that we we
explore all avenues of recovery for them. Again, if they’re in an in an accident in a car, then your first your
first avenue of recovery is against the liability insurance for the driver of the car. And I stress this to to my
clients who ride motorcycles. You need to insure yourself. Well, you need to get plenty of uninsured and underinsured
motors coverage. Policies tend to be written. If I’m on a motorcycle, the person selling the policies thinks about it in terms of a liability. what kind of
damage is the motorcycle going to do to a car? The thinking is, well, not much,
but they don’t think in the converse where, okay, if I’m on the motorcycle and I get, it’s going to cause a lot of damage to me. So, you need to have
plenty of insurance coverage to protect you um from from the other drivers out there. And again, my experience is people on motorcycles are riding around
with with state minimum policies because some agent has told them, “Well, you don’t need a lot of coverage because you’re on a motorcycle.” But you do because you need plenty of coverage for
underinsured motorist coverage. Um, so that’s my best advice to to to motorcycle riders out there. Be careful and uh you got to be watching out for
the for the drivers because a lot of times they’re not watching out for you.

Dayton Ohio, personal injury attorney Kevin Attkisson talks about what makes motorcycle accident cases harder to win. He observes that motorcycle accidents often result in severe injuries for riders, making it critical to pursue every available source of compensation after a crash. He notes that recovery typically begins with a claim against the at-fault driver’s liability insurance but stresses that motorcyclists should also carry substantial uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage to protect themselves from drivers who have little or no insurance.

He cautions that many motorcycle owners are encouraged to purchase only minimum insurance limits because motorcycles generally cause less damage to other vehicles. However, he emphasizes that this approach overlooks the significant injuries a rider can suffer in a collision. He therefore advises motorcyclists to maintain strong insurance protection and remain especially vigilant on the road, as many drivers fail to adequately watch for motorcycles.
