I think of katada aquinina syndrome as one of the worst medical events that can happen to someone that most people have
never heard of. Most people when they hear of kataquinus syndrome, it’s often as a result of having to Google this strange word. Katada
is katada meaning tail. Aquina meaning horse. Scottina is um Latin for the
horse’s tail. What that means is in a in the spine at the base of L1 in your
lumbar spine is a group of nerves that inverate and flow down and control the
bottom half of a person’s body. In kataquinus syndrome, you have a compression of those nerves, a compression of the horse’s tail that
cuts off the nerve function to the bottom part of the the body, causing a host of catastrophic neurological deficits to the patient.
