First I want to say that we have offices in Minneapolis and in Saint Cloud. So, we’re in the metro and we’re in the larger Minnesota community, and we’re very intentionally so. Because in Minnesota it’s not just what’s happening in the Twin Cities that matters, it’s what’s happening – you know, let’s be honest, some of our most entrepreneurial folks happen to be way outside the Twin Cities.

And so, we want to be where the entrepreneurial folks are who have ideas that they want to bring to life in an optimal way, which always takes human capital. Whatever idea you have always takes people, so we’re specialists with respect to interacting with people. So, what I would say is many of us are folks who had been at large firms for a long time. I was at large firms for longer than 20 years.

Most of the folks I worked with I’ve worked with for ten years plus, some as long as 23 years, and we’re very different. We have tea party Republicans and hard core lefties, and we like that. We like the different perspective and trying to do something in a way that’s focused on clients not forms and meetings and traditional ways of thinking about things. For example, you might solve a big problem by just talking to folks as opposed to suing them.

Minneapolis and St. Cloud attorney Sheila Engelmeier shares why her law firm is different than other employment law firms. She shared that the firm has offices in both Minneapolis and Saint Cloud, reflecting its intentional commitment to serving clients throughout Minnesota rather than focusing solely on the Twin Cities. She emphasized that many of the state’s most entrepreneurial individuals are located outside the metropolitan area, and the firm aims to be accessible to those who are bringing innovative ideas to life. According to her, every successful business venture depends on people, making effective management of human capital an essential part of organizational success.

She noted that the firm’s attorneys are experienced professionals, many of whom previously spent years practicing at large law firms. She explained that she herself practiced at large firms for more than 20 years and has worked alongside many of her colleagues for over a decade, with some professional relationships extending as long as 23 years. This shared experience has helped shape the firm’s collaborative approach to serving clients.

She also highlighted the diversity of perspectives within the firm, noting that the team includes individuals with a wide range of political beliefs and backgrounds. She emphasized that this diversity strengthens the firm’s ability to think creatively and focus on practical, client-centered solutions rather than relying solely on traditional processes or formalities. According to her, many workplace and legal challenges can often be resolved through open communication and constructive dialogue instead of litigation.
