So a NICS denial is a result usually of a record which shows that you may be prohibited under federal law from possessing a firearm, and this may come up even if you’ve been able to obtain your license here in Massachusetts. There are a number of ways to challenge a denial under the federal background check system known as the NICS system. What we try to do is look into that record, remove the old record, remove the disqualifier, file an appeal to the NICS bureau and restore your rights through the NICS appeals process.
