so there’s two questions baked into that
and I’ll address them both but one
question is do I have the requisite
credits to qualify for Social Security
and generally if someone’s worked and
paid Social Security taxes for most of
their adult life and at least five of
the last 10 years they are eligible to
file the second part of it is
are you working or not because that’s
the first question in the five-step
sequential evaluation process and so if
you’re not working and you’ve worked for
at least five of the last 10 years then
you would be eligible to at least file
the application
Tampa, FL workers’ compensation attorney Mark Lee addresses the question of how one qualifies for Social Security Disability benefits. He explains that there are two questions embedded in that, and I will address both. The first question is whether you have enough credits to qualify for Social Security. Generally, if you have worked and paid Social Security taxes for most of your adult life, and at least five of the last 10 years, you are eligible to file. The second part of the question is whether you are currently employed, as that is the first question in the five-step sequential evaluation process. If you are not working and have worked for at least five of the last 10 years, then you would be eligible to apply for Social Security.
