Cambridge, MA immigration lawyer Jeff Goldman talks about his biggest mentor in the practice and his service to the community. He explains that after law school, he began working for his father in a small local real estate practice, where he learned an immense amount from him. His father was not only a mentor and teacher but also a trusted friend. From him, he learned that clients value complete ethical behavior, honesty, and clear communication from their lawyer—lessons that have guided him throughout his career.

Over the past twenty-nine years, he has built his own immigration law practice and held several leadership positions in the immigration bar at both local and national levels. He served as the past chapter chair of the New England chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and has been on the board of governors for the national organization. Through these roles, he has cultivated a vast network of connections that have benefited his clients across the country.

He has earned the respect of judges and officials at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Most recently, Governor Charlie Baker of Massachusetts appointed him as chair of the state’s Immigration Advisory Council. In this capacity, he meets regularly with the governor and the governor’s legal counsel at the State House to discuss immigration issues and their impact on the Massachusetts economy. This role allows him to influence policy on refugees, workforce development, and creating opportunities for immigrants—work that benefits both immigrants and citizens throughout Massachusetts and beyond.
