The best piece of advice that I I repeatedly give to a client or to all my clients really is do not talk to the police. No matter what they tell you
that they they’re going to do for you or what you think talking to them can do for you. The best piece of advice I give to clients is do not talk to the police.
No law enforcement.
Well, to be successful in the courtroom as a criminal defense lawyer, I think you the way I would put it is you need to know things. You need to know your
case, you need to know your client, and you need to know the court. So, as far as knowing the case, that’s just preparation. Uh, reading the discovery,
watching the videos. As far as knowing your client, I mean, one of the most important things I think is is building
a good rapport and kind of getting their their goals down from the beginning and kind of uh working the case in a way
that reaches those goals. So, I think that’s important. And then it’s very important to know which court you’re in, who the prosecutor is, what the judge,
how they operate. Um, so you know, kind of the parameters and the guidelines and the different, you know, what what can be done and can’t be done in that court.
Um, and I think that’s important and a really good way to be successful.
San Antonio, TX criminal defense attorney Daniel De La Garza talks about his most common piece of advice to clients and what it takes to be successful in the courtroom.
