my background was specifically uh
started in law school i found out that i
was sort of attracted to bankruptcy law
and
other instances of secure transactions
and i really
saw that this could be a route that i
could use to help people when i
graduated law school
it was 2012 so and i started in 2009 so
throughout that period i really saw
how uh financial distress can uh hurt
you know the american family during that
time period i thought
who do i want to help with with my
my position as a lawyer and i thought
everyday working people
um who are just struggling especially
with the the effects of debt that’s
that’s who i wanted to help so
that’s why i became a bankruptcy
attorney and i’ve
been put in a position where i’ve had
the ability to do that
the first thing i have is licensed
practice law and i graduated from the
university of missouri-kansas city law
school in 2012. i was recently named a
super lawyer in the
missouri kansas area more important than
that i would say are some of the things
i’ve been able to do with the bankruptcy
court i currently sit on the western
district of missouri bankruptcy court
attorney advisory group i have been
invited by our bankruptcy judges to help
serve on subcommittees that have helped
write some of our local rules i’ve then
been asked to speak at some of our
continuing legal education seminars
about how those rules affect
our current practice and doing that i’ve
really had the ability to
make sure that
the type of clients we have that the
people seeking relief have a seat at the
table when these these procedures are
put into place
in the western district of missouri uh
and to a lesser extent the district of
kansas
Kansas City, KS bankruptcy attorney Hunter Gould shares the background and experience that has prepared him for his current practice. He explains that his background in law begins in law school, where he discovers a strong interest in bankruptcy law and secured transactions. He quickly realizes this could be a path to genuinely help people. Graduating in 2012, after starting in 2009, he witnesses firsthand how financial distress devastates American families during that time. He asks himself who he wants to serve as a lawyer, and the answer becomes clear: everyday working people struggling under the weight of debt. That conviction leads him to become a bankruptcy attorney, a role that allows him to provide real relief to those who need it most.
He earns his law degree from the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Law in 2012 and is licensed to practice law. His professional achievements include being named a Super Lawyer in the Missouri–Kansas area. Beyond recognition, he values the opportunities he’s had to shape the practice of bankruptcy law. He serves on the Western District of Missouri Bankruptcy Court Attorney Advisory Group and has been invited by bankruptcy judges to participate on subcommittees responsible for drafting local rules. He is also asked to speak at continuing legal education seminars, explaining how those rules impact current practice.
Through these roles, he ensures that the voices of clients seeking relief are represented when procedures are created and refined in the Western District of Missouri, and, to a lesser degree, in the District of Kansas. For him, it isn’t just about accolades—it’s about making sure everyday people have a seat at the table.
