The only way for a patient to know if if a bad outcome is the result of negligence is by consulting someone who can review the records, whether it be a
physician or an experienced malpractice lawyer. There’s just no way to know otherwise because there is a whole subset of terrible things that happen to
people in hospitals that is is is part of medical care and that should not be avoided with reasonable care. On the other hand, there’s a lot of negligent
care out there and and a lot of times doctors, nurses, um, hospitals and institutions who run those those groups
um, aren’t doing what they’re supposed to do to ensure patient safety. And no one can ever guarantee complete patient safety and and our practice doesn’t seek
to to hold any physicians to that standard. But what we do is we expect physicians and other medical providers to act within the standard of care and
to provide that level of care which is acceptable in the field.

Stamford, CT personal injury attorney Paul Slager talks about how to know if a bad outcome is a normal risk of a procedure or medical malpractice. He explains that determining whether a poor medical outcome resulted from negligence often requires a review of the patient’s medical records by a qualified physician or an experienced medical malpractice attorney. While some adverse outcomes are an unavoidable part of medical care despite the exercise of reasonable care, he notes that instances of negligent treatment do occur when healthcare providers or institutions fail to meet their responsibilities for patient safety. He emphasizes that medical professionals are not expected to guarantee perfect outcomes, but they are expected to adhere to the accepted standard of care and provide treatment consistent with the level of care recognized within the medical community.
