In Connecticut, people who were abused as children have until age 48 to bring a lawsuit. And a few years ago, the law
changed um so that if someone were to be abused today, they actually have until they’re 51. It’s very well known that people often, especially men, don’t
disclose child sexual abuse until they’re quite a bit older. I think the typical age is late 40s, early 50s when people first disclose. And in
Connecticut, the legislature has accepted that that’s the case. And and people who who want to bring actions even decades after they were abused as children uh are able to do so.

Stamford, CT personal injury attorney Paul Slager talks about you’re legal options when your abuse happened decades ago. He notes that, in Connecticut, individuals who were abused as children generally have until age 48 to file a lawsuit, while those abused under the updated law have until age 51 to pursue legal action. He explains that child sexual abuse, particularly among men, often goes undisclosed for many years, with many survivors not coming forward until their late 40s or early 50s. He highlights that Connecticut lawmakers have recognized this reality, allowing survivors to seek justice even decades after the abuse occurred.
