Parenting time is determined by the court analyzing a few different factors.
There’s not a one-sizefitsall to each parent and to each child. So the court would look at various factors. The
child’s health, education, age. It is really a focus on what is in the child’s
sbest interest. The courts will look at what the relationship between a child and parent is, whether there’s a strong bond, whether there’s not a strong bond,
what the needs of the child are depending on the age, school, education needs, and those are the various factors
a court would look at. There are more for each child and parent with the overreaching goal that the child the
court is looking to have the child have consistency and stability and the court looks to the parent having frequent and
continuing contact with the child unless it’s determined that the that contact is detrimental in some way.
Los Angeles, CA family law attorney Marie A. LaMolinara talks about how parenting time is determined.
