Experience in Business Valuation

We’ve been fortunate to have a lot of cases involving businesses. I’ve also had to litigate and the worst cases is when we have no chance of agreeing even after we have business valuations. I’ve had to go to court litigating for multiple days on the value of a business because there was a lot of money at stake. We had two business valuations experts, we had the top people from the company, and we’ve also had the business owners there. I think our experience kind of starts out this way: we take a look at the business, we identify it as an issue, we see if it does fall into that category where it seemingly doesn’t have any value in itself and we see what the parties think about that. We recommend to our client if even if it is a small business, we recommend that they go ahead and ask an expert to take a look at for a pretty reasonable fee is it worth pursuing, does this seem like it has any value? If the answer is yes then we recommend getting a business valuation done and we are very big into early intervention. Making sure that whether we have a neutral expert who is working on behalf of both parties or if we hire our own expert, we make sure that we feed that expert or feed the decision maker the facts that are favorable to our client’s position, that they’re not overlooked.
