The approach to defending armed robbery
case isn’t all that dissimilar from any
other offense, which is that you gather
information and you try to to get as
much information as you can from your
client, from the prosecutor, from
independent investigation. And then you
work I work two different angles. And
that is to try to see what the case
would look like if we go to trial, what
the defenses might be, what it might
look like in front of a jury. And at the
same time to also go down the other
path, which is to keep a professional
relationship with the prosecutor and try
to see what they’re what they might
offer in terms of a plea agreement. uh
particularly trying to see if we can get
the charge reduced from armed robbery,
which carries a mandatory minimum of 10
years, to a lesser offense, typically
robbery, which doesn’t have that
mandatory minimum. And then over the
course of time, in multiple discussions
with my client, we’re going to discuss
what their options are. We’re going to
discuss the pros and the cons of those
options. And then ultimately, the
client’s going to let me know what they
want to do.
