We handle all types of employment uh cases. So that includes individual cases, class cases, and every type of
case you could think of in the employment uh sector. So we do the wage theft, which you know, other people call it wage an hour. It’s the, you know,
failure to take uh rest breaks and lunch breaks, failure to be paid for them when they’re not taken, failure to pay overtime when an employer doesn’t pay
all the wages. And we also do all of the protected classifications.
So you know any type of case that’s based on what we say uh a suspect classification which is sexual harassment or you know harassment on any
type of basis um or any sort of sexual orientation harassment discrimination or retaliation disability discrimination
harassment retaliation discrimination based on uh marital status on ethnic status based on um whether you take
leave for yourself or for another person and uh race ethnic origin, immigration
status, domestic violence uh status, and uh if you’re in the military. So, we do all of those. We also do a fair amount
of whistleblower cases and defamation claims. Outside of the employment practice areas, we do all personal
injury claims. So, car accidents, slip and falls, um bicycle cases, motorcycle
cases, uh dog bites, the whole gamut of those as well.
I always tell clients, and this might sound very cliche, but finding a lawyer is like finding a good shoe. You have to find one that fits right, that meets your comfort level, meets your style.
Your lawyer is going to be your mouthpiece. And in order for them to be their mouthpiece, they have to get you.
And you have to feel comfortable with them enough for them to learn everything about you. Otherwise, they can’t speak for you. in the same way that someone
who could really be comfortable, that perfect shoe that you slide your foot into and just, you know, um, encompasses
you in such a way, that’s the way you want to find a good lawyer. If you need more handholding, they’re going to be there for you. If you, you know, want
something done faster, you need to find somebody who works with a speed and maybe doesn’t take on as many cases.
It’s the same thing. you know, an older shoe is going to be all worn out and they’re not going to have as much time for you or keep you safe. That that’s what I always say.

San Francisco, CA employment attorney Traci M. Hinden talks about the types of cases her firm handles and what you should look for in hiring an lawyer. She explains that her firm handles all types of employment cases, including individual matters, class actions, and virtually every type of case that arises in the employment sector. She notes that this includes wage theft, also commonly referred to as wage-and-hour claims, such as an employer’s failure to provide required rest and meal breaks, failure to pay employees for missed breaks when applicable, failure to pay overtime, and other situations in which employees are not paid all of the wages they are owed.
She explains that her firm also handles cases involving protected classifications, including what are commonly referred to as suspect classifications. These matters can involve sexual harassment, harassment based on various protected characteristics, sexual orientation harassment or discrimination, retaliation, and disability discrimination, harassment, or retaliation.
She further explains that the firm handles discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claims based on marital status, ethnicity or ethnic origin, whether an employee takes protected leave for themselves or another person, race, immigration status, domestic violence status, and military status. She also notes that the firm handles a significant number of whistleblower cases and defamation claims.
Outside of employment law, she explains that her firm also handles personal injury matters, including car accidents, slip-and-fall cases, bicycle and motorcycle accidents, dog bites, and other types of personal injury claims.
She emphasizes that choosing a lawyer is similar to finding a good shoe: the lawyer needs to be the right fit for the client’s needs, comfort level, and personal style. She explains that a lawyer will serve as the client’s mouthpiece, and in order to effectively speak on the client’s behalf, the lawyer needs to understand the client and the circumstances of the case.
She stresses that clients need to feel comfortable enough with their attorney to share everything necessary for the attorney to truly understand them. She compares this to finding the perfect shoe that fits comfortably and surrounds the foot in a way that feels right, explaining that the same principle applies when selecting a lawyer.
She also explains that different clients may need different types of attorneys depending on their preferences and circumstances. If a client needs more guidance and personal attention, they should find a lawyer who is willing to provide that level of support. Conversely, if a client needs matters handled more quickly, they may want to find an attorney who works at a faster pace and potentially takes on fewer cases.
She concludes by comparing an experienced but overextended attorney to an old, worn-out shoe that may no longer provide the same level of support or protection. She emphasizes that finding the right lawyer is ultimately about finding someone who fits the client’s needs and can provide the level of attention, communication, and advocacy the client requires.
