In every case, we want the person to be as good as medicine can make them. We want them healed. That’s our first goal,
right? And our second goal is obviously to get the person as much money as possible. But in a wrongful death case,
there is no amount of money that will ever bring the person back to the family that lost that person. That’s the difference in a wrongful death case.
Yes, I’m trying to get the estate or whatever surviving family members as much money as I can get them, but it’s
not as satisfying, if you will, as helping someone recover from an injury and then also getting the financial
compensation that they deserve for their pain. In wrongful death, you don’t see that. It’s always sad. In the case that
I just discussed with the woman who who died from ethanolism, no one’s going to bring that 32 year old woman back to her family ever. She’s never going to be
there to celebrate any holidays or events in that family’s life. So, yes, we got the family a lot of money for
that event, but it it’s not it doesn’t do anything really for the family. It doesn’t it doesn’t satisfy or close that wound that the family sustained.

Parsippany, NJ personal injury attorney Christopher Masmunno talks about his experience in wrongful death cases. He reflects on the unique challenges of wrongful death cases, explaining that the primary goal in any injury case is to help the client recover as fully as possible while also pursuing fair financial compensation. However, he notes that wrongful death cases are fundamentally different because no amount of compensation can replace a loved one or undo the loss experienced by surviving family members.

He explains that while a successful legal claim may provide financial security for a family, it cannot restore the relationships, milestones, and experiences that were lost when a person passed away. Using the example of a young woman who died due to alleged medical negligence, he emphasizes that although her family received substantial compensation, the emotional impact of her absence remains. He concludes that wrongful death cases are often less satisfying than other personal injury matters because financial recovery alone cannot heal the profound grief left behind by the loss of a family member.
