Well, you call here first and uh if you’re injured in the workplace, you’re essentially going to recover two things
or three things, excuse me. You’re going to recover your medical bills for whatever your injury is in the workplace. You’re going to uh get
temporary disability from from the insurance company of your employer for while you’re out of work. And then
ultimately we will get you what’s called a partial permanent disability award in workers compensation court. And it’s not
done with juries. It’s a different system. Uh workers compensation court is a different animal. And the judge will look on a on a on a chart to determine
your percentage of disability and there’s a number there that you would get um for your partial permanent disability award. We also look though
for every workers’s compensation case to see if there may be a third-party case where maybe the injuries are caused.
Yes, you were hurt at work, but it was also the result of a third party. For example, let’s say I work um at a gas
station and that’s my job. I’m a mechanic in at the gas station and the boss tells me, “Listen, uh take the lawn
mower and go out there and mow that little strip of grass in front of the gas station.” and I do that and I get injured because there’s not the
appropriate guard on the on the lawn mower. Well, yes, I was hurt in the course of my employment, but I also have
a third-party case against the manufacturer, a products liability case against the manufacturer of the lawn mower for maybe not having the
appropriate guard on on on the lawn mower. So, there there can be a combination of both.
