I represented a fantastic woman several
years ago in federal court. She was a
mortgage lender and had created her own
business, had really worked her way up.
And this was during the heydays of the
the 2000s where everybody was in the
industry of of um loaning money and
building houses. And when the economy
crashed, a couple of the banks which she
had lines of credit with and owed lots
of money to were influential enough to
convince uh some federal law enforcement
to charge her federally. She and I
worked tirelessly over uh years uh often
going through uh every loan, every bank
record that we could and brought in a
few experts to help us, investigator,
forensic accountant, and ultimately we
went to trial and we were able to show
the jury that she was a good
businesswoman, that what happened was a
sign of the economy and what was
happening to everybody, uh but that she
was up and up, that she didn’t do
anything wrong or fraudulent. And the
jury found her not guilty.
Atlanta, GA criminal defense attorney Sandy Wallack talks about a memorable white collar case he handled.
