for the retrial
and we were able to be successful and
and have him
acquitted at the retrial
based on having a medical examiner
re-review the autopsy
a more experienced medical
medical examiner who determined that the
the first medical examiner was just
plainly wrong they had gotten
uh the the cause of death wrong and how
it happened and
that medical examiner was was so
reputable that the first medical

Atlanta, GA criminal defense attorney Sandy Wallack shares the story of a memorable murder case he handled. He recounts representing a client in a second trial after the client had been convicted at the first trial. The original judge had expressed some misgivings, and he became involved for the retrial. Through his efforts, they achieved a successful outcome, securing an acquittal for the client. This success hinged on having a more experienced medical examiner re-review the autopsy, ultimately determining that the first examiner had been incorrect regarding the cause and circumstances of death. The second examiner’s reputation was such that the first medical examiner recanted their original opinion and testified in alignment with the new expert’s findings.
