Murder cases are incredibly interesting. For one thing, they bring in a lot of scientific evidence, forensic evidence. There’s anything from weapons, ballistics, blood splatter – all of those issues can come into play when determining whether somebody’s guilty or innocent of the charge. If you look at the Ninth Circuit, the cases that I have handled are the definitional cases on what constitutes manslaughter versus second degree murder, both voluntary and involuntary manslaughter, based on the appeals that I’ve wrote in various cases. So I have extensive practice in that, and also in death penalty defense. That of course then branches to any kind of actual – let’s say physical crime such as assault or battery, even sexual abuse, all kind of encompass the same skill sets that you would use to defend a murder case. So those are always intriguing, and there’s always drama connected with a murder case. There’s usually passion involved.
