In our experience, the most common characteristics of these collisions involve the failure of the truck drivers to account for the fact that they are in such a large rig with greater stopping distances, greater need to control speed or reduce speed dramatically in bad weather, things of that nature. We also find that very often there are equipment violations, which may not be the result of the truck driver doing something wrong but rather the employer of the truck driver or the owner of the rig not providing proper maintenance and not providing proper inspections.
