well there’s many defenses uh in in
prostitution cases it could be that it
just didn’t occur it could be that the
defendant charged with a prostitution
case was entrapped by law
enforcement and I had a case for example
where the detective investigating my
client had met up
with supposed prostitute Who was Mo my
client and
ended up receiving uh oral sex from my
client and then after receiving oral sex
uh charged her with
prostitution uh the government was so
embarrassed about the outrageous conduct
by the particular detective that they
just dismissed the case prior to trial

Minneapolis, MN criminal defense attorney Ryan Garry talks about the defenses available in a prostitution case. He points out that several defenses may apply in prostitution cases. In some instances, the alleged conduct simply did not occur, while in others, the defendant may have been entrapped by law enforcement. He recalls a case in which a detective, while investigating his client, engaged in sexual activity with her and subsequently charged her with prostitution. The government, faced with the detective’s inappropriate and outrageous conduct, dismissed the case before it proceeded to trial.
