Don’t try and solve the case yourself. If you have been accused of some sexual impropriety, get a lawyer right away. And the reason why you should do that is a lawyer has the resources and the knowledge to do whatever he can to try and avoid you from being criminally charged. That can include polygraph examinations to try and convince the charging authority not to charge you or the officer not to submit the case. That can include private investigation to hunt down witnesses that would give exculpatory information about you that you can provide either the investigator or the prosecuting attorney. We’ve had many, many case here where a client has come to me and I have investigated the case quickly, even the day that I’m hired, and we’ve been able to convince the either cop not to even submit the case because the alleged victim is so un-credible. Or we’ve been able to convince the prosecutor not to charge the case because of the reasonable doubt that exists.

Minneapolis criminal defense attorney, Ryan Garry, on what one should do if charged with criminal sexual conduct. He cautions against attempting to resolve allegations of sexual misconduct without legal representation. When such accusations arise, he stresses the importance of retaining an attorney immediately. An experienced lawyer has the knowledge and resources to take proactive measures that may prevent criminal charges from being filed. These efforts can include arranging polygraph examinations to persuade authorities not to pursue charges or employing private investigators to locate witnesses who can provide exculpatory evidence. He notes that in many cases, timely intervention has led to favorable outcomes, such as convincing law enforcement not to submit a case or persuading prosecutors to decline charges due to credibility issues or the presence of significant reasonable doubt.
