Real estate tax assessment appeals are a big part of my practice. They are really a great thing because if we can reduce somebody’s real estate tax assessment, they can save money on their real estate taxes and that generally will continue going forward, year after year unless something really changes. If you don’t know the formulas and the current calculations you can’t meaningfully help a business property owner commercial property owner, or a homeowner. But if you do, and you’re familiar, you can really help them run the numbers and analyze whether it makes sense. And we do that all the time, and we’ve had some terrific results over the years saving people a lot of money in real estate taxes.
