The general public can also have claims against the railroad in several types of cases. Grade crossing cases where if the railroad lights or gates don’t work and someone is injured or unfortunately, killed at railroad crossing those can be claims brought against railroads or catastrophic cases where a railroad can have toxic releases from tank cars and derailments or explosions like they had up in Canada.
