As for premarital agreements, the couples that generally consider having them have substantial sole and separate property that they’re bringing in to the marriage and they want to preserve it as their sole and separate property particularly when there are multiple marriages. Or it may be the case where one of the spouses has significant liabilities and the other spouse wants to protect what property they do have from the liabilities of the other spouse. It is probably one of the most unromantic things you can do just before getting married so it’s one we handle with kid gloves and hopefully, we’ve got an attorney on the other side that works with this and doesn’t make this a very unromantic project.
