Well, when we talk about civil litigation, all we’re really saying is that it’s a civil matter that not necessarily deals only with personal injury, but anything that is non-criminal, but that’s civil and that puts you in front of a court, in front of a tribunal that will require some appearances, some litigating, some advocacy in a formal manner before the court. So we do actually perform and partake in civil litigation where it’s not personal injury. Maybe it’s a breach of contract case where we are representing a small business and as a result that business owner has suffered financially as a result of the breach of contract.

What we do then is we, my firm and my team, we go in, gather the information, present the facts, present a case, partake in the process of that case and pursuing it from start to finish, and yes, even to the point of jury trials to then allow our clients, the business owner, to be made whole. Okay? It happens all the time. Those are typically breach of contract cases.

That is one area outside of personal injury that falls within the umbrella of civil litigation.

Southfield, MI personal injury attorney Johnny Hawkins talks about his firm’s work in the area of civil litigation. He explains that civil litigation refers broadly to legal disputes that are non-criminal in nature. While personal injury cases are a common subset, civil litigation encompasses any matter requiring formal court proceedings, appearances, and advocacy before a judge or tribunal.

His firm also handles civil litigation matters that are not related to personal injury. For example, in breach of contract cases, the firm may represent a small business whose owner has suffered financial loss due to the contractual violation.

In such cases, he and his team gather the relevant information, present the facts, and manage the litigation process from start to finish. This can include pursuing the matter through a jury trial if necessary, with the goal of ensuring the client is made whole. These types of cases, though less common than personal injury, are a regular part of the firm’s civil litigation practice and demonstrate its ability to address a range of legal disputes.
