i honestly could not be more shocked
that i am a cannabis practitioner myself
obviously when i went to law school
cannabis was
illegal
but once it became legal in the state of
nevada the drive for me was to bring it
to bring best practices to the cannabis
industry and to make sure that the
clients are treating it as a business so
it actually worked quite well with my
prior practice which was small business
small business startups mergers and
acquisitions it was just that it was a
new area of law that obviously was
different and it creates different
issues for small businesses in terms of
cash handling
in terms of
federal versus states rights it’s very
interesting area of law it’s a very
exciting area of law
and we have a lot of clients that have
been very successful i work in many
different jurisdictions in cannabis with
applications
mergers acquisitions regulatory
compliance it’s fascinating it’s
fascinating and i’m i’m very happy to be
involved in this area and with its
legalization

Las Vegas, NV business law attorney Tisha R. Black talks about her firm’s work in Cannabis law. She shares that she could hardly believe that she had become a cannabis practitioner. When she attended law school, cannabis was still illegal. However, once it became legal in Nevada, she was motivated to bring best practices to the industry and ensure that clients treated their operations as legitimate businesses.
Her background in small business—startups, mergers, and acquisitions—translated well to this emerging field, though it presented new challenges, including cash handling and navigating federal versus state regulations. The area of law proved both complex and exciting. She works with clients across multiple jurisdictions, handling applications, mergers and acquisitions, and regulatory compliance. The field continues to fascinate her, and she is enthusiastic about contributing to its growth following legalization.
