So I have a lot of experience with murder and violent crime cases. Actually my first three jury trials ever in my first two years of practice were all murder cases. Those were in state court, and they also had gang allegations, and right now I am in the middle of preparing for what is essentially a federal murder case. We call it VICAR, ‘cause it’s Violent Crimes in Support of Racketeering, but it’s a murder case that happened to be picked up by the feds. And so there’s not just one way to handle a murder case. In fact, you can’t just handle it one way. It has to be uniquely tailored to the facts of that case. But a good murder crimes lawyer and violent crimes lawyer is going to be very meticulous in going through the forensic evidence. You’re also going to need to be very meticulous in going through what they call a murder book. So in state court, they put together what they consider to be the evidence around this murder, and it’s usually 300-400 pages. It’s suspect interviews. It’s line-ups. It’s the forensics. And you have to go through that with a fine-tooth comb, because really that’s the evidence they’re gonna introduce at trial. And so particularly with murder cases, a focus on investigation and knowing those forensics inside and out
