well I guess I wanted to become a lawyer
to be like my dad and my older brother I
always admired them U my dad was an
attorney when I was a little kid uh we
always kind of make the joke that you
know I was always getting cross-examined
and you know had to be clever to try to
get away with anything and was kind of
training for it my whole life in essence
and then my my dad was uh elected a
trial judge when I was in high school
and uh then eventually became a supreme
court of Tennessee we’re very proud of
him and then my older brother was an
attorney and so when I was about 29 I
went back to school to get my law degree
and uh you know I’ve been a lawyer ever
since and so it just kind of came
naturally to me where uh you know you
really couldn’t get away with much of my
household growing up and you were always
kind of asked why you thought something
and you were expected to be smart enough
to to know what you were doing at an
early age

Nashville, TN family law attorney Ethan R. Page talks about why he became a lawyer. He shares that his decision to become a lawyer was inspired by his father and older brother, both of whom he greatly admired. His father practiced law when he was a child, and growing up in that environment often felt like constant preparation for the profession—he jokes that he was always being cross-examined at home and had to think quickly to keep up.

When he was in high school, his father was elected as a trial judge and later went on to serve on the Tennessee Supreme Court, a source of great pride for the family. His older brother also pursued a career in law, further reinforcing the path he eventually chose for himself.

At the age of 29, he returned to school to earn his law degree and has been practicing ever since. For him, the profession felt like a natural fit, shaped by a household where critical thinking and accountability were expected from an early age.
