I was trained and started work right
00:07
after law school at a large one of the
00:10
largest and and I think the oldest firm
00:12
in San Francisco the name of it was
00:14
Pillsbury and I worked there for 13
00:17
years and working there allowed me to
00:20
have access to trusts and charitable
00:25
planning that most lawyers never get to
00:27
experience I got to open trust that had
00:31
sealing wax and ribbon on them from the
00:33
1920s I mean you just don’t see that
00:35
anymore but these trusts were still in
00:37
existence and still being administered
00:39
you know for beneficiaries that the
00:41
creator of the Trust had no idea you
00:44
know had never met these people and we
00:46
still create these trying of trust today
00:48
there are most lawyers are reluctant to
00:50
do these kind of trusts there’s less
00:52
than 1% of the country that does trust
00:54
the last four you know almost a hundred
00:56
years here in California but almost all
00:59
of my trusts do I’m not afraid of the of
01:02
these extended trusts and I see how
01:05
beneficial they are they are creditor
01:08
protection for anyone that’s a
01:09
beneficiary of that and so that
01:12
experience those 13 years of that major
01:15
law firm dealing with everyday very
01:17
complicated all kinds of estate planning
01:20
issues that prepared me for this office
01:23
that I opened after that time and I came
01:28
and opened this office on Sand Hill Road
01:31
in Menlo Park which is now and has been
01:34
for decades the epicenter of Silicon
01:37
Valley with the clients at levels of
01:39
expectation that they expect from
01:41
lawyers and here I was you know coming
01:44
in just opening an office like that
01:47
people that came to me could be going to
01:50
any law firm and yet they were coming to
01:52
me and I owe that to my clients to make
01:55
make them feel that they made the right
01:57
choice to come to this law firm so those
02:01
two professional experiences crafted my
02:07
history to the point that I’m able to
02:10
effectively draft documents
02:13
in a way that very few lawyers have had
02:15
training the lawyer training at
02:17
Pillsbury was unlike any other it was
02:19
very rigid and every word of those
02:22
documents were studied and agonized over
02:25
every process in the document of
02:27
transitions within the document were
02:29
evaluated by the litigation group and
02:32
the risk management group wonderful
02:35
experience but I would say one of the
02:37
best levels of expertise I bring to my
02:42
practice is being a mother and having
02:45
four children they’re grown now but
02:48
seeing the family dynamic from the
02:51
inside out a marriage children all of
02:54
that helps me be a better lawyer because
02:58
I’m drafting these documents many times
03:00
for clients who are concerned that
03:02
they’re gonna be gone before the
03:04
children are reaching majority and the
03:06
issues they want in guiding the wealth
03:08
or or shaping the future of the child so
03:12
wealth doesn’t inhibit incentive or
03:15
encouraging children in a philanthropic
03:18
way all these issues because I’m a
03:21
mother and I’ve and I’ve worked through
03:24
all these issues myself I think that’s
03:26
that’s helped just as much of all as all
03:29
the lawyer training
03:32
you
