my most rewarding aspect
00:06
in my practice is my clients
00:09
i love helping them a lot of them are
00:12
long-term
00:13
clients they came to me years ago for
00:16
some project
00:17
and then they come back and say rob and
00:19
i have this project
00:21
and i’ll say yes i can help you but if i
00:24
can’t i will make sure they get to the
00:26
right lawyer
00:27
so that their problems are solved i also
00:31
like
00:31
problem solving and that’s very
00:34
beneficial
00:36
and i like helping my clients get
00:39
a result that they want and that is
00:42
you know extremely rewarding
00:45
as a lawyer once told me a client
00:49
takes on their shoulders the weight of
00:51
their client
00:52
and clients want to give you their
00:55
problems
00:56
and i gladly accept them and hopefully
00:58
can work them out for them and
01:00
make them you know feel like they’re in
01:03
a better place when their project is
01:05
over
01:10
in speaking of scholarly writing and
01:13
works
01:14
i have written prolifically since i was
01:17
a baby lawyer
01:18
i speak all the time including on zoom
01:22
now
01:22
not my preference because i like to
01:24
interact with
01:26
my audience but right now we’re stuck
01:29
with that
01:30
i have taught at golden gate
01:33
and i have also taught at university of
01:36
san francisco in both the law school
01:38
and in the masters in tax program i
01:42
participate in a annual
01:45
california bar activity
01:49
where we go back to washington dc and
01:52
national office and present white papers
01:55
i comment a lot for tax notes
01:58
when new legislation comes out i have a
02:00
lot of friends in the government that i
02:02
interact with
02:04
and i really enjoy that part of my
02:06
practice and also
02:08
mentoring young lawyers because if you
02:11
don’t have people that mentor them
02:13
and teach them and you pay it forward
02:17
uh you know it’s never gonna happen and
02:19
you’re not gonna build build
02:21
the practice of law so those are
02:25
things that are very important to me

Sacramento, CA lawyer Robin Klomparens talks about the most rewarding aspect of her practice and her scholarly work. She shares that the most rewarding aspect of her practice is her clients. Helping them brings her immense satisfaction, especially since many have been with her for years. Some first came to her for a single project long ago and have since returned for new matters, trusting her guidance time and again. She takes pride in being a problem solver—someone who not only finds effective solutions but also ensures that if she cannot personally assist, her clients are referred to the right lawyer who can. For her, achieving a successful outcome that leaves clients feeling secure and supported is deeply fulfilling.
She often recalls the advice of a mentor who once told her that a lawyer takes on the weight of their clients’ burdens. She embraces that responsibility wholeheartedly, knowing that clients entrust her with their most pressing problems. Her goal is always to lift that weight and guide them toward a better place by the end of their case or project.
Beyond client work, she has an enduring passion for writing and teaching. Since her earliest years as a lawyer, she has written extensively and spoken at numerous professional events—now often through virtual platforms, though she prefers the energy of in-person interactions. She has taught at both Golden Gate University and the University of San Francisco, in the law school and in the master’s program in tax law.
She also participates in the annual California Bar event in Washington, D.C., where she and her colleagues present white papers to the national office. In addition, she contributes commentary for Tax Notes on emerging legislation and maintains strong professional relationships with many in government circles.
Mentoring young lawyers is another aspect of her work that she holds close to her heart. She believes that passing on knowledge and experience is essential to sustaining the integrity and future of the legal profession. For her, teaching, mentoring, and helping others grow are not only professional responsibilities but personal commitments that make her practice deeply meaningful.
