So here at Riddle & Butts I’m a member of the estate planning team but I also serve as the head of the probate department where I guide clients who are usually going through a grieving process through the probate experience and hold their hand.

Well, I am a voracious reader and one of my favorite books of all time is To Kill a Mockingbird. As a youth reading those words, which just breathed life into Atticus Finch as a well-spoken, thoughtful, clever attorney with a stellar moral compass really formed my opinion as to what an attorney could or should be. And I wanted to be viewed through that lens myself. So now, as an adult, I have the opportunity to serve both the legal profession and my clients as a thoughtful, well-spoken, clever attorney with a moral compass in service of my community and I have chosen to embrace that opportunity. So if anybody could be credited or blames, if the case may be, with my decision to become an attorney that would be Harper Lee.

As the mother of four boys when I am not practicing law, I am at the baseball field. I am at either a baseball practice during the weeknights or at a baseball tournament on the weekends. I have had the opportunity to cheer on my boys in Alabama, Florida, Colorado, Louisiana, and all over the state of Texas and look forward to many more trips doing that. When I’m not actually at the field I am curled up on the couch watching the Astros and rooting them on from home.

Spring, TX estate planning & probate attorney Kristi Gourley talks about the focus of her practice as well as what she does outside of the office.
