What I’m most interested in as an attorney is to do a good job. For the client to be satisfied at the end of the case that they’ve received excellent service and excellent advice. And that they look forward to working with me and my law firm again. That’s what motivates me every day when we come to work is to do the right thing for our clients so that we hear those words at the end of every case.

The most important thing to being a trial lawyer is experience. The more experience you have the better you get and the more comfortable you become with the process, with being in court, with trying a case, with working with the judge, working with the bailiff, the clerk, the jury, opposing counsel, witnesses. There’s a lot going on when you’re trying a case and the more times you do it, the more comfortable you become. After trying 30 or 40 cases or so to juries, I felt like I had become experienced enough to describe myself as a trial lawyer. But I really didn’t feel that I was an experienced or seasoned trial attorney until I tried that many cases. So the most important thing when anybody is deciding who to hire to represent them is does the firm have access to or does the firm have a trial lawyer that has a lot of experience because it takes a lot of experience to really know what you’re doing.
