my number one thing is
when
i work with clients usually the things
they don’t think about are
what happens when the unexpected happens
maybe it’s uh two spouses where one is
is older than the other and so the
default train of thought is to think oh
the older one will pass first and so
they haven’t even considered what would
happen if the younger partner passed
away first all those kinds of things
what happens if
you’re in a catastrophic event and your
child does not survive you or
they do survive you but in poor health i
mean our job as attorneys is to think
about
all of the unexpected events and to plan
and to prepare for those

Las Vegas, NV estate planning attorney Zachary Morris shares his advice for someone who’s thinking about creating an estate plan. He explains that his number one priority when working with clients is addressing the unexpected—those scenarios people rarely think about. He often encounters situations where, for example, one spouse is older than the other, and the assumption is that the older spouse will pass first. He ensures clients also consider the possibility that the younger spouse could pass away first.

He guides clients through other unforeseen events as well, such as catastrophic accidents affecting their children—whether the child survives in poor health or does not survive at all. For him, part of his role as an attorney is to anticipate these difficult possibilities and help clients plan and prepare for them thoroughly.
