I think it’s important in any criminal case to take it to a lawyer to review the evidence in the case before anybody makes a decision. But in the DWI area, you can negotiate the case and perhaps get it off of a DUI. Being a border state to Canada, if you can get your case to a careless driving you can still go into Canada, whereas if you get a DUI on your record you cannot enter.
