On a DUI case, there’s really two separate things that you must consider. First is to see if the person is eligible for ARD, which stands for accelerated rehabilitative disposition. Do whatever you can do to get the person ARD if it’s available. The second thing is is to be patient and get the discovery and get the paperwork and have us go through it with a fine-tooth comb to try to see what we can argue. DUIs are some of the most complicated issues and the most that we can actually do for a client if we have to go to trial. The discovery is often lengthy, and even though people think, “Well, it’s a DUI. It’s not a murder case. It’s not possession with intent to deliver.” That doesn’t matter. There’s so many things that the government has to be able to get right in order to convict someone of DUI. So, it’s important that everyone’s patient. We get everything. We go through it all, and then we figure out what kind of defense we’re going to mount, and then go fight the case.
