An expungement is getting a judge to seal a criminal record, to hide it from public view so that if you apply for a job or if you apply for housing you can say without committing perjury I never committed that offense. I was never convicted of that crime. It applies to pretty much any criminal offense that’s not a felony at least in Minnesota and it also applies directly to DWI. So as long as you didn’t commit a felony level offense you’ve got the opportunity to get that crime expunged and there’s a lot of benefits to doing so in terms of finding employment, getting your license making sure that, well just making sure you can move on and not have this conviction haunt you going forward.

Roseville, MN DWI defense attorney Dan Koewler explains the concept of expungement and whether or not it’s possible for a DWI to be expunged from your record.
