what’s it take to be successful in the
courtroom is the passion that you give
to the work that you do I truly believe
that judges and juries
see that
they see the passion they see the
knowledge if you are prepared
you will have the knowledge
to provide to the jury or to the judge
never go to court never go to trial
unprepared unfortunately in the past
I’ve seen attorneys that open up their
file for the first time right before
they have a motion or a hearing or
whatever it is
you cannot do that before I go to trial
I set out at least a few weeks for
Preparation I try at least one jury
trial a month at least
and there is always a preparation period
before that you will never find me
setting two jury trials back to back
because it’s not fair for my clients so
when I come into the courtroom I am
prepared
and I know what I’m talking about

Chicago, IL commercial litigation attorney Gal Pissetzky explains what it takes to be successful in the courtroom. Success in the courtroom requires passion and dedication to the work at hand. He firmly believes that judges and juries recognize and respond to that passion, as well as the depth of knowledge that comes from thorough preparation. Being prepared provides the necessary foundation to present effectively to a jury or a judge.

He emphasizes that no attorney should ever enter a courtroom or trial unprepared. In his experience, some attorneys open their files for the first time immediately before a motion or hearing—a practice he considers unacceptable. Prior to trial, he allocates several weeks for preparation and typically handles at least one jury trial per month, ensuring ample time to study the case in depth. He never schedules back-to-back jury trials, understanding that doing so would compromise the quality of representation for his clients. When he enters the courtroom, he is fully prepared and confident in his knowledge of the case.
