if you’re someone who’s working on a
construction accident someone who’s
doing construction demolition or
excavation work and you are hurt while
you are
on the job
the first thing that you need to do
besides seek medical attention
is to inform your employer inform your
supervisor that you are hurt
we see far too often individuals who
are hurt
while they’re on the job and they try to
walk it off or they try to play it down
and they try to pretend that perhaps
they could work through it and it’ll go
away
most of the time this does not happen
and the longer you wait the more
problems there are later on there is
nothing wrong with admitting that you
are hurt while doing some of the most
dangerous work there is to do which is
why new york state has very specific and
very stringent laws protecting
construction workers who are doing the
construction demolition and excavation
work that builds the city
Brooklyn, NY personal injury attorney Jordan Jodré shares his advice for someone injured in a construction accident. He points out that if a worker is injured while performing construction, demolition, or excavation work, the first step—after seeking medical attention—is to immediately inform the employer or supervisor about the injury. He stresses that too often, workers downplay their injuries, try to walk them off, or continue working in the hope that the pain will disappear. In reality, he notes, this rarely happens, and delaying reporting only creates bigger problems later on.
He emphasizes that there is nothing wrong with admitting an injury, especially when performing some of the most dangerous work there is. That is precisely why New York State has enacted strict and specific laws designed to protect construction workers engaged in the challenging and hazardous tasks of building the city.
