Well, in business litigation you are going to come up against excellent opposing council. Because, in the cases that we try or get involved in, the amount of controversy is usually high, mid six figures, high six figures, seven figures. So, you’re gonna have people you can’t push around. Which, frankly, I prefer. I like the challenge, I like to exercise my brain.

That in turn, will typically cause costs to increase because some larger opposing firms will test a smaller firm, like mine. And say, “What if we give them a lot of work to do? How will they respond to that? Will they buckle? Or will they push back strong?” Of course, we push back strong. There is some challenges in incorporating and evaluating documentary information. We have software that we use to do that so that the client is not charged countless hours for going through every page of document production. We have sophisticated search engines and algorithms we use to process information as efficiently as possible so that the client is not charged a large amount of money for information review.

Los Angeles, CA commercial litigation attorney Brian M. Grossman talks about the biggest challenges he faces in business litigation. He states that in business litigation, he knew he would come up against excellent opposing counsel. The cases he handled typically involved substantial amounts in controversy—often mid-six figures, high-six figures, or even into the seven figures—so he expected to face opponents who could not be pushed around. That was something he preferred; he welcomed the challenge and enjoyed exercising his mind.

He also recognized that such cases usually drove costs upward. Larger opposing firms often tried to test smaller firms like his by overwhelming them with work, waiting to see if they would buckle under the pressure or push back. He always pushed back, and he pushed back strong.

There were, of course, challenges in incorporating and evaluating large volumes of documentary information. To handle this efficiently, he relied on specialized software that allowed his team to process data without billing clients for countless hours of manual review. With sophisticated search engines and algorithms, he ensured information was handled as efficiently as possible, sparing clients from unnecessary expenses tied to document production and review.
