So we are business and commercial litigators. That’s what I’ve done for almost 30 years. The primary focus the last 15 years or so has been what I call business divorce. It has a lot of the same characteristics of a personal divorce. It’s separating people. Here we’re separating owners from companies, a lotta times owner employees from companies. And we come at it from all kinds of different angles, but at the end of the day, somebody has to leave the company, and we’ll represent either the company or the individuals. And one of the things I try to do in these cases now, and I’ve really honed my skill over the years, is I try to keep them out of the courtroom to do that. And I’ve been able to do that with great success on many occasions. And that’s very satisfying.

Minneapolis, MN business litigation attorney Christopher M. Daniels talks about what business divorce is. He notes that he is a business and commercial litigator with nearly 30 years of experience. Over the past 15 years, he has specialized in what he refers to as “business divorce,” which shares many parallels with personal divorce but involves separating owners or owner-employees from companies. He approaches these cases from multiple angles, representing either the company or individual owners as needed.

A key focus of his practice is resolving disputes outside the courtroom whenever possible. Over the years, he has developed a skill for negotiating settlements and facilitating transitions that allow parties to separate efficiently and equitably. Achieving these outcomes without litigation has been a hallmark of his practice and a source of professional satisfaction.
