administrative law is almost sort of a
made-up term
but it really it really reflects
government licensing
and and this covers a whole range of
areas from licensing of hospitals to
health care professionals
barber shops beauty shops
real estate agents insurance agents
insurance companies
virtually every
professional license is issued by the
state
that becomes administrative law because
you’re dealing with a state agency
you’re not going to court you’re dealing
with the state agency to resolve an
issue or a problem in regard to that
license that doesn’t mean that it might
ultimately not have to go to court to be
resolved but generally it’s in the
administrative arena with an
administrative agency so we call that
administrative law

Las Vegas, NV business law attorney James L. Wadhams talks about his firm’s work in administrative law. He notes that administrative law is somewhat of a constructed term, but it essentially pertains to government licensing. It encompasses a wide range of areas, from hospitals and healthcare professionals to barber shops, beauty salons, real estate agents, insurance agents, and insurance companies. Virtually every professional license issued by the state falls under this category.

He explains that administrative law arises because these matters are handled by a state agency rather than a court. The process involves resolving issues or disputes related to a license through the administrative agency. While some matters may ultimately need judicial intervention, they are generally addressed within the administrative framework, which is why the field is referred to as administrative law.
