So we focus mostly on estate and trust
litigation which is defending or trying
to invalidate the validity of a will, a
trust, a beneficiary designation or a
deed. We also advise people with respect
to their interest in trust. We advise
fiduciaries, trustees, personal
representatives. We um do some business
litigation. We also do personal counsel.
My husband represents doctors and
helping them when they’re sued. And then
um we also do some estate planning. So
helping people with their wills, trust,
we probate and administer wills and
trust. So we also do the administrative
side as well. And powers of attorney are
part of estate planning.
One of the things that would jump out
initially that makes us different is
that we’re a husband and a wife team.
You don’t see that very often. Uh we’re
also a small firm. It’s just the two of
us uh the two attorneys and that’s by
design. We limit the number of cases
that we take. Uh so that we will
intimately know the details about every
client about every case. Uh you would
not just be a another client to us or a
number. Another thing that sets us apart
is that um I practiced as a plaintist
medical malpractice attorney for 25
years and I have a lot more courtroom
experience than most attorneys in this
area of the law. Um and that’s because I
was lead counsel in more than 20 jury
trials and those trials are typically
two or three weeks long whereas in a
state and trust litigation it’s a trial
to a judge that would be two or three
days long. So, I’ve got a lot of
courtroom experience and I’m very
comfortable trying cases. My wife um has
a lot of uh success and experience in
this area of the law. She’s the current
co-chair of the committee for attorneys
that practice in this area. It’s called
the Probate and Litigation Committee of
the Colorado Bar Association. She and I
have both um received honors and awards
in this area. For this current year, for
example, we were both chosen as Colorado
super lawyers in the area of estate and
trust litigation. And there are only, I
think, about seven or eight in the
entire state of Colorado. Uh, and two of
them are in this law firm.
