What makes my firm different than other law firms is that in Pasetsky Law, we concentrate on trial. I only concentrate and take cases that are felony cases in federal and state courts all around the country, with an eye to a trial. When somebody comes to me, sometimes I’m not the first lawyer on the case or the second lawyer on the case, but they come to me because they know that I will fight their case all the way through trial and give them the best chance to win their case outright.

In some other law firms, when they have a client come in, they tell a good story to get the client to hire them and pay them. But then the first thing that they do is try to convince the client to plead guilty or become a cooperator. I don’t do that in my firm. Of course, there are clients that do plea guilty because they want to, but they will never have me convince them to do so, and they have to make that decision on their own. In fact, I would give them the options of going to trial or getting a deal and pleading guilty, and they will have to make that decision.

But when they come to me, they know that I try my cases. So, I compare myself to a doctor, and I, in fact, compare myself to a surgeon. I need to do surgery on you; you are right now very sick. You have been accused of a crime, and you might be spending a very long period of time in prison if you lose the case. So, my job is to try to cut out that cancer out of your life. How do you do that? Similar to when you pick a doctor. Who do you want to be your surgeon? Who do you want to take care of you and make sure that you heal perfectly?

Because people understand and know doctors more than they know lawyers because obviously people have gone to doctors all their lives, I say you pick a lawyer similar to the way you pick a doctor. If you feel comfortable, you look at their background, you look at their work, you do a little due diligence, and you check them out. Then you come and meet with them, and I encourage new clients that do not know me to go and meet with other lawyers. I don’t have a problem with that. I’m very proud of what I do and how I do it, and that’s the reason why I encourage them to go and meet with other lawyers. Then they will see the difference between me and other lawyers.

Chicago, IL criminal defense attorney Gal Pissetzky explains what makes his firm different from others and what you should look for in hiring a lawyer. What sets Pasetsky Law apart from other law firms is their focus on trial. The firm exclusively handles felony cases in federal and state courts nationwide, with a commitment to taking cases to trial. Clients often approach them, recognizing that the firm is dedicated to fighting their cases vigorously, regardless of whether they are the initial or second legal representation sought.

In contrast to some other law firms, where clients may be enticed with compelling narratives to secure legal representation, Pasetsky Law avoids pressuring clients to plead guilty or cooperate. While acknowledging that some clients may choose to plead guilty, the firm refrains from actively convincing them to do so, allowing clients to make such decisions independently. Clients are presented with the options of going to trial or negotiating a plea deal, with the ultimate decision resting in their hands.

Clients who engage with Pasetsky Law understand the firm’s commitment to taking cases to trial. Drawing an analogy to the medical field, the firm likens itself to a surgeon addressing a critical illness. Clients facing serious criminal accusations are metaphorically viewed as being in a state of sickness, with potential lengthy prison sentences if convicted. The firm’s role is depicted as surgically removing the ‘cancer’ of criminal charges from clients’ lives.

In selecting legal representation, the firm encourages clients to approach the decision similarly to choosing a doctor. Prospective clients are urged to assess backgrounds, examine previous work, conduct due diligence, and meet with various lawyers, not exclusive to Pasetsky Law. This openness reflects the firm’s confidence in its approach and the desire for clients to experience firsthand the distinction between Pasetsky Law and other legal practitioners.
