hourly rates are lower because our
overhead’s lower
uh we provide we have we have the the
capacity in-house that any large firm
would have
but we don’t spend a lot of the money
that big firms spend
we don’t look for the most expensive
office in the tallest building
we have very professional offices but
they’re they’re not as expensive as some
we don’t have multi-level staffing
we have a very lean efficient staff all
of whom have been here
many many years and probably a larger
expense we have
is that we avoid is we don’t interview
at law schools we don’t have summer
clerkship programs
we don’t have first-year lawyers that
learn on the job
with a client paying the bill so the
lawyers we have
are are experienced and have an area of
expertise when they come with the firm
there’s a result of that without having
the additional overhead that most law
firms have
because our overhead is less our early
rates are significantly less

Dallas, TX lawyer Troy Phillips explains why his firm’s hourly rates are so much lower than other firms. He explains that the firm’s hourly rates are lower due to reduced overhead. While the firm possesses the same in-house capabilities as larger firms, it avoids the high costs associated with them. Their offices are professional but not excessively expensive, and their staffing structure is lean and efficient, with long-tenured employees.

Unlike many large firms, they do not recruit from law schools, run summer clerkship programs, or employ first-year lawyers who learn on the job at the client’s expense. All lawyers at the firm are experienced and bring expertise to their roles from day one. This combination of seasoned attorneys and lower operational costs allows the firm to offer competitive hourly rates without compromising service quality.
