Wrongful death cases are typically cases that are the result of a personal injury that is caused by someone either negligently or recklessly doing something that cuts short the life of another. One of my most memorable wrongful death cases involved a young mother in her early 20s who, while driving as the operator of a motor vehicle with her young son, aged two, in the back, hit an area where there was water on the road that should not have been there. As a result, her vehicle hydroplaned, and they struck a light pole. She was instantly killed, and her son was seriously injured. We sued the city because they were the ones that had actually caused the water due to construction they were doing. We were able to successfully secure a seven-figure settlement for the estate of the mom and the child. This was many years ago, and while we couldn’t bring back the loving mother and fiance that was killed, we were able to ensure that the family and her surviving son would have no financial worries in the future.
