A U visa is essentially a visa that is
for particular victims of crime.
Typically those crimes involve violence
or some type of act against the
immigrant. One of my most memorable U
visa cases is a case where I had an
individual who entered the United States
on a tourist visa. And while she was
here, she was robbed. Unfortunately, she
was the victim of a robbery. And as a
result of being the victim of a robbery,
we filed her U visa. She did cooperate
with law enforcement um and it led to a
conviction of the individual but as a
result she was able to live and work
here lawfully. She is since become a
permanent resident and was able to bring
her kids her children here and raise
them here with her and they are lawful
permanent residents as well. And that is
one of my most memorable U visa cases.

Miami, FL immigration attorney Ruth Jean talks about a memorable case involving a U-Visa or T-Visa. She explains that a U visa is designed for victims of certain crimes, typically those involving violence or harm against an immigrant. She recalls one of her most memorable U visa cases, involving a woman who had entered the United States on a tourist visa. During her stay, the woman became the victim of a robbery. Following the incident, she cooperated fully with law enforcement, which ultimately led to the conviction of the perpetrator.
Through the attorney’s guidance, the woman applied for and obtained a U visa, allowing her to live and work lawfully in the United States. Over time, she became a permanent resident and was later able to bring her children to the country, where they too gained lawful permanent residency. For the attorney, this case stands out as a powerful example of how justice and compassion can transform lives.
