Claims agents are individuals that work for railroads that investigate injuries and process them. They’re highly trained and they are immediately called after an accident to start gathering witness statements, gathering information. Their job and they are paid is to protect the interests of the railroad not of the injured person or their family. And that’s how the system works. The same thing with railroad paid lawyers, they’re there to represent the railroad and they’re highly trained and very efficient. That’s why for an individual to have an equal footing in making decisions of whether to accept a settlement or not hire someone that is of equal competency before you make your decision.
