Patent profile analytics are helpful to determine whether or not there’s a growth in a particular patent area. So if the area is showing a sharp increase in the number of filings, that indicates that there is a great deal of growing interest among the industry in that particular technology. If there’s a fall off in the number of patents being filed, it indicates that it’s a decaying or dying technology area. And then you can – by looking at how sharp the increase is across different companies, you can determine which companies are throwing more resources into a particular technology area.
